In the "She Can" series the character Sean always is present as the supportive, helpful security whiz. Married with a gorgeous wife and two children, his home welcomes friends and family. Finally Sean gets his story (even if it is short). Taking a "bus-man's" holiday, Sean and Amanda look forward to a quiet weekend retreat from their hectic schedules. And, of course, Ms. Leigh does not allow that. That is all I am revealing. Great characters, fast pace and total involvement to the end made this a fine one-hour suspenseful read in between commitments. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

It amazes me that there could be such character development in a short story. The author is that good. This is the my introduction to Ms. Leigh and I shall look for more of her work. I'm sold.
Fifty nine pages of evil, action and a thrill ride!!! Who would imagine a business/pleasure trip would turn into a nightmare? A short story involving Sean and Amanda Wilson, giving us an insight as to how life can be unpredictable and threatening. As much as it was a horrific experience, Amanda stayed strong and Sean kept his wits to save everyone from four armed men. The whole story was a fast and even paced narration to a great end. Even being a short story, the chemistry and trust between Amanda and Sean was palpable.

Once you start, you won't be able to put it down. My main complaint (and hence the 4 stars rather than 5) is the amount of foul language this author uses in her books. And it's not coming only from the bad guys. At times I feel like it bombards the reader. I know that I may be in the minority on that point, but it just seems so unnecessary. Otherwise, a great suspenseful read!
While written well, with some good characterizations and smooth plot line, this story felt too contrived.

The bad guys were almost caricatures, with the uncle the only one to control the nephew, the quiet one, and the one in control. Also, their connection to Mia... contrived.

There were also continuity errors. I didn't expect that.
I have to admit, I started reading this right after finishing one of Allison Brennan's books and for a moment, I thought I was reading another Allison Brennan (the whole Sean thing.)

I really liked this story; I think that it was definitely even more intense and graphic than Leigh's other work. It packed a lot of action into ~50 pages. I don't know if these characters will be showing up again, but I hope so.

I've loved reading about the folks of Westbury; wondering if Sean and Amanda would have a story! Well, they did in this very exciting and suspenseful short story. This book quickly got into the story! Melinda Leigh knows how to peak interest with her steamy love stories and intrigue! I would recommend starting with Book 1 of this series.......getting to know the people in this small rural community, the law enforcement members, and how news travels quickly in small towns!
I completed my household chores after work last evening and was still able to read this short story by bedtime. The story was engrossing and offered at a bargain price.

The villains--a psychopath and three others who are sort of "psychopaths-lite," are believable. The alpha male hero is not a mere stereotype but is capable of worthwhile introspection--in fact, a surprising amount considering the length of the story.

All-in-all, this "booklet" is an excellent example of its type. The action is rapid-fire, a surprise or two pops up and the characters are as well developed as such a short tale could possibly allow.
